Karen Lahey is one of the
founders of Huron Valley Software Consulting. She has over twenty-five
years of experience designing, implementing, and managing the development
of software products and custom applications. She has developed software
for database applications, LAN/WAN communications, machine control, graphics,
user interfaces, materials handling, real-time systems, and operating
systems. She has:
- Managed first line development
groups in several business areas.
- Experience in job estimation,
scheduling, and project management.
- Skilled in Visual C++
with MFC, Visual FoxPro, SQL, PL/SQL, DHTML, SGML, C, Borland C++, PL/1,
FORTRAN, BASIC, and assembler languages for numerous machines
- Experience with a wide
variety of platforms (personal computers to mainframe, LAN, WAN, etc.),
including Windows 2000/98/95/NT/3.x, UNIX with X Windows and MOTIF,
IBM MVS and VM, QNX, vxWorks, VRTX, and OS/9. Ms. Lahey has hands-on
experience with Intel, Motorola, IBM 370, Data General, HP, DEC, and
other hardware environments.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
This section briefly
lists some of the many successful projects Ms Lahey has led:
- Developed IIS Application to serve data from a TM1 database
- Designed and developed
several Active X controls and DLLs, using C++ and MFC, for use with
Visual FoxPro.
- Integrated application
with Lotus Notes, using both Notes database development and the API.
- Created text translators
to convert service manuals to online presentation format. Consulted
in the design of an authoring system used to create automotive service
information.
- Managed software department
responsible for a user configurable data acquisition and control product.
Developed new graphical user interface that runs on both MS Windows
and X Windows.
- Developed software for
a communications device supporting multiple communication protocols
- Developed a directory
database service (X.500 like) to be used with X.400 mail,
- Combined the session and
transport layers of a proprietary LAN operating system on the PC.
- Managed development of
a successful executive information system.
- Developed real time linking
technology years before DLLs existed.
- Developed presentation
graphics and a business graphics language.
- Designed and implemented
a relational database and application generator for the IBM PC.
- Designed, implemented,
documented and installed material handling systems.
